J. Murrell Brown Memorial Scholarship in Welding Technology

This scholarship fund was established in memory of J. Murrell Brown, who operated one of the first welding shops in Levelland, Murrell’s Welding Works. The scholarship is awarded to an outstanding student enrolled in the Welding Technology Program. Minimum qualifications include: 2.50 grade point average; and full-time enrollment (12 semester hours or more). The scholarship program was established by Mike Worley of Levelland, who got his start in the welding industry working for Brown and his associate O.M. “Rube” Morris. Brown, who also operated several other businesses in Levelland, died in 1987. Mr. Worley owns and operates Worley Welding Works in Levelland.
