Earl and June Gerstenberger Scholarship

The Earl and June Gerstenberger Scholarship is awarded to an outstanding freshman or sophomore student who majors in agriculture. Minimum qualifications include: 3.00 grade point average; full-time enrollment (12 semester hours or more); and U.S. citizen or permanent resident. The Gerstenbergers helped start South Plains College. Earl was a member of the college?s original faculty hired in 1958. In his 35 years with the college, he served as an instructor and chairman of the agriculture department, dean of men, dean of students and vice president for student affairs and administration. June worked 28 years with the college, retiring from the business office as administrative assistant for financial services. The college established the Earl and June Gerstenberger Scholarship upon their retirement and the Gerstenberger family and friends have contributed generously to this scholarship fund which is now endowed.
