O.R. and Frances Watkins Memorial Scholarship

The O.R. and Frances Watkins Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a freshman or sophomore student who majors in English. Minimum qualifications include: 2.50 grade point average; and full-time enrollment (12 semester hours or more). The children and friends of O.R. and Frances Watkins have established an endowed scholarship fund that honors these two SPC pioneers. O.R. Watkins was a member of the 1956 Citizens Committee that helped establish SPC. Frances Watkins taught English at SPC and was English Department Chairperson for 20 years.
