2020 Livestock Judging Scholarship

In 2020 the Livestock Judging Team at South Plains College took first place at the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Kentucky. Upon winning this award the group received an opportunity for a trip to Scotland. Harlton and Wendy Hemphill of Andrews (Texas) wished to surprise the Livestock Judging Team by sponsoring the trip for the students. Walker Hemphill, who is the son of Harlton and Wendy, was a member of the winning Livestock Judging Team at South Plains College. Unfortunately, the trip was continuously canceled and rebooked due to the Covid-19 pandemic and once everyone was safe to travel again, most of the 2020 members were working. At this point, the Hemphill’s decided to utilize their initial support for the Scotland trip to establish a scholarship that would offer a Livestock Judging Team member assistance to help finish their education at SPC.
