W.D. "Dub" Rogers, Jr. Memorial Scholarship in Broadcast Journalism

The W.D. “Dub” Rogers, Jr. Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a freshman or sophomore student majoring in radio, television and film studies (broadcast journalism) at SPC. Minimum qualifications include: 2.50 grade point average; full-time enrollment (12 semester hours or more); and U.S. citizen or permanent resident. In addition to serving as city mayor, Dub Rogers was a pioneer broadcaster in Lubbock, Texas. He brought the first national affiliate to West Texas in 1952. In 1992 Dub contributed to the college an invaluable collection of television and broadcast memorabilia that charts the history of telecommunications on the South Plains. The Dub Rogers Collection is housed in the Communications Building. This scholarship was established by the Communications Department in Mr. Rogers’ memory.
