Verna Allen Bowman Memorial Scholarship

A stay-at-home mom until her children were in their teens, Verna Bowman graduated from cosmetology school and owned an operated her own hair salon until her retirement. A person of many talents, she also enjoyed painting and gardening and was also an excellent self-taught seamstress and quilter. To honor her commitment to her clients and community, her family established this endowment. Recipients must be enrolled full-time in the cosmetology program and maintain a 2.5 grade point average. First preference is given to a Hockley County High School graduate.
