Alvin and Mary Walker Memorial Scholarship

The Alvin and Mary Walker Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a freshman or sophomore student who is a graduate of a high school located in Hockley County. Minimum qualifications include: 2.50 grade point average; full-time enrollment (12 semester hours or more); and U.S. citizen or permanent resident. This scholarship program was established by the friends and family of the late Alvin and Mary K. (Franklin) Walker. Both were graduates of Pep High School and attended South Plains College. Mr. Walker worked many years for K-Bar Texas Electric before his death in 1990. Mrs. Walker served as Hockley County Clerk until her death in 2003.
