Wade and Gaylia Taylor Memorial Scholarship in Teacher Education

The Wade and Gaylia Taylor Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a freshman or sophomore student who plans to prepare for the teaching profession. Minimum qualifications include: 2.50 grade point average; full-time enrollment (12 semester hours or more); and U.S. citizen or permanent resident. First consideration is given to students who graduate from Whiteface High School. This scholarship program was established by Wade Taylor of Whiteface to honor the memory of his wife who died in 2005. Gaylia Taylor attended SPC and later worked as a secretary at Whiteface Elementary School for nearly 30 years. Because of Mrs. Taylor’s love for the students she mentored, the scholarship supports an SPC student who plans to pursue a career in education. Mr. Taylor managed Whiteface Coop Gin for nearly 25 years and farmed in the Whiteface area. Mr. Taylor died in 2015.
