Richard James Scholarship in Mathematics
Richard James taught mathematics at South Plains College for 43 years before retiring as a professor of mathematics in 2010. Colleagues and former students established the scholarship fund to recognize his service and impact as a master teacher. In order to be eligible, applicants must be enrolled or plan to enroll full-time as a mathematics or pre-engineering major. Recipients are selected by the faculty of the Mathematics and Pre-Engineering Department based on academic performance, character and leadership. In order to maintain the scholarship, recipients must maintain a minimum 3.00 grade point average.
