Robert and Joy Pearce Mathematics Scholarship

The Robert and Joy Pearce Mathematics Scholarship is awarded to a freshman or sophomore math major. Minimum qualification include: 3.0 grade point average; full-time enrollment (12 semester hours or more) in the math program; and U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Mr. Pearce, retired professor of mathematics and department chairperson, holds many distinctions at South Plains College. But the one he is most known for is his commitment to helping math and pre-engineering students be successful in all their college endeavors. Mr. Pearce exemplified this credo for 40 years at SPC. He and his wife Joy endowed the Robert and Joy Pearce Scholarship in Mathematics. Mrs. Pearce taught 29 years in public schools, 14 of these years were as a math teacher at Levelland Middle School.
