South Plains Chapter API Coleman Williams Scholarship in Engineering

In 1970, the South Plains Chapter of the American Petroleum Institute Chapter began contributing scholarship funds to support selected technical programs and the pre-engineering program. This scholarship is one of the longest standing programs at SPC. Minimum qualifications include: 2.50 grade point average; full-time enrollment (12 semester hours or more) in the pre-engineering program; and U.S. citizen or permanent resident. The late Coleman Williams of Brownfield, who worked for American Oil Company (Amoco), helped establish the scholarship fund and supported this program for many years. The South Plains API Chapter established the scholarship fund in Mr. Williams’ honor and memory.
