O.R. and Frances Watkins Memorial Scholarship

The O.R. and Frances Watkins Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a freshman or sophomore student who majors in English. Minimum qualifications include: 2.50 grade point average; full-time enrollment (12 semester hours or more); and U.S. citizen or permanent resident. The children and friends of O.R. and Frances Watkins have established an endowed scholarship fund that honors these two SPC pioneers. O.R. Watkins was a member of the 1956 Citizens Committee that helped establish SPC. Frances Watkins taught English at SPC and was English Department Chairperson for 20 years.
