Stephen J. Smith Scholarship

Steve Smith carried on his father Bill’s legacy of serving Slaton, Texas and the surrounding communities with integrity at Smith South Plains starting in the late 1970’s. As he built upon the foundation for Smith Ford, (now Smith Auto Family), Steve showed steadfast love, kindness, and good humor as a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Throughout his lifetime and until the very end, Steve served on numerous industry, church and community boards holding many leadership positions. Through the years many have benefited from his quiet, yet wise counsel. He lived a joy-filled life and was a great friend to many. Mr. Smith passed away in September of 2022 and his daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Patrick Sykora established this scholarship endowment to support a student in SPC’s Automotive Collision Repair Technology, Automotive Service Technology or Diesel Service Technology program. Mrs. Sykora has faithfully served on the SPC Foundation Board since 2016.
