Max Evans Western Swing Scholarship

The Max Evans Wesrtern Swing Scholarships is awarded to a talented student performer who is majoring in commercial music and studying this music style. Minimum qualifications include: 2.50 grade point average; full-time enrollment (12 semester hours or more); demonstrated musical talent through audition; and U.S. citizen or permanent resident. The scholarship was established by the friends of Max Evans, a Ropesville, Texas, native who has enjoyed a notable career as a movie screen writer, author and working cowboy. Mr. Evans is best know for his screenplay for the 1956 movie “The Rounders,” staring Glenn Ford and Henry Fonda, and 1998 film “The Hi-Lo Country,” starring Woody Harrelson and Patricia Arquette. Mr. Evans has written numerous novels and short stories about the American Southwest. He and his wife Pat reside in Albuquerque, N.M.
