Malcolm Merriman Memorial Scholarship

The Malcolm Merriman Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a freshman or sophomore student majoring in Commercial Music at SPC. Minimum qualifications include: 2.50 grade point average; full-time enrollment (12 semester hours or more) in the program; and U.S. citizen or permanent resident. The James and Claudine Merriman family established the Malcolm Merriman Memorial Scholarship in memory of their son who graduated from Levelland High School and attended South Plains College. Malcolm had a keen interest in song writing and wrote many songs over the years. His music skills were very much appreciated by the SPC commercial music faculty who had the opportunity to tutor him. This scholarship program supports future songwriters studying at SPC.
