Jim Montgomery Memorial Scholarship

Established by Hockley County Abstract to honor its former owner, this endowment supports SPC students from Hockley County who plan to become teachers. James “Jim” Albert Montgomery bought Hockley County Abstract and moved his family to Levelland in 1960. A social man who was very community minded, Mr. Montgomery served on numerous boards and as Mayor of Levelland from 1973 to1976. He also served 15 years on the South Plains College Board of Regents. Mr. Montgomery retired in 1999 and passed away in the summer of 2020.
