L.G. and Dorothy Griffin Memorial Scholarship

The Louis G. and Dorothy Griffin Memorial Scholarship was established by Mr. Griffin’s former students and friends in 1988. Mr. Griffin served as principal at Carver School in Levelland for 31 years and was an educational leader for the African-American community. Following his retirement, he served on the Levelland ISD Board of Trustees and other civic boards and agencies. Mr. Griffin supported SPC and education through his advocacy of learning, passion for helping others and his belief that all persons have the freedom to think, speak and pursue their dreams. He died in 1989. The scholarship is awarded yearly to an outstanding Levelland High School graduate who demonstrates the character and leadership that marked Mr. Griffin’s public school career.
