Jerry and Mary Beth Barton Scholarship

The Jerry and Mary Beth Barton Scholarship is a general college scholarship that is awarded to a freshman or sophomore student who demonstrates exceptional leadership and character. Minimum qualifications include: 2.50 grade point average; full-time enrollment (12 semester hours or more); and U.S. citizen or permanent resident. This scholarship honors Jerry Barton who graduated from SPC in 1961 and returned in 1969 to teach mid-management. He later served as registrar and dean of students, retiring in 1999 with 30 years of service. He died a short time later. Barton is credited with providing exemplary service to thousands of SPC students through the student services program. Mrs. Landendorff, his widow, resides in San Antonio. His son Dr. Scott Barton is an alumnus of SPC who practices dentistry.
