John P. Dickson Memorial Scholarship in Agriculture

The John P. Dickson Memorial Scholarship in Agriculture has been established by Mrs. Lunette Dickson in memory of her husband’s service to South Plains College. Mr. Dickson worked at SPC 31 years, joining the college in 1962 as Tax Assessor-Collector and retiring in 1993 as College Business Manager. Mr. Dickson died in 2008. Mrs. Dickson joined the College faculty in 1969 and taught business for 24 years before retiring in 1993 as chairperson of the Business Administration Department. She resides with her daughter Linda Dickson in Carrollton, Texas. The scholarship program provides financial assistance for outstanding students who are majoring in agriculture, agriculture communications or agri-business. In order to be considered, applicants must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average and enroll as a full-time student at SPC (minimum 12 semester hours).
