John M. and Ruby Jo Bayne Memorial Scholarship

The John M. and Ruby Jo Bayne Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a freshman or sophomore student majoring in psychology or sociology. Minimum qualifications include: 2.75 grade point average; full-time enrollment (12 semester hours or more) in an associate degree program; and U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Students are selected for the award by faculty of the Behavioral Science Department. The scholarship fund was established by Ruby Popejoy Bayne in 1989 to honor her husband who was a community college psychology professor. During his career, Professor Bayne taught at Howard College in Big Spring and Panola College in Carthage. Mrs. Bayne died in 2010.
