Lene Roettig Scholarship Award in English

The Lena Ethel Roettig Scholarship Award in English was established by Mrs. Pauline Winningham in 1982 in memory of her mother who stressed the importance of a college education at a time when many women did not attend college. Mrs. Winningham was an English teacher for many years in the Levelland Independent School District. As a result, the scholarship award recognizes an outstanding SPC student who plans to teach English language arts in a public school setting. Recipients must be in their second year at South Plains College and are chosen for the award by the faculty of the English Department.
