John and Auvena Morton Scholarship

The John V. and Auvena Morton Scholarship is awarded yearly to students who display leadership potential and who demonstrate self-discipline and high moral values. Recipients are generally chosen from those students who do not receive assistance from other scholarship programs at SPC. Minimum qualifications include: 3.00 grade point average; ranked in the top 50% of graduating class; full-time enrollment (12 semester hours or more) in an associate degree program; and U.S. citizen or permanent resident. The scholarship funds were made possible by Mr. and Mrs. John V. Morton of Levelland, longtime supporters of community college education. Mr. Morton served as a member of the SPC Board of Regents from 1957 to 1978.
