Jim R. and J.L. Jenkins Scholarship in Agriculture

The Jim R. and J.L. Jenkins Scholarship is awarded to an outstanding freshman or sophomore who majors in agriculture and demonstrates the ideals and character of these two men. Minimum qualifications include: 3.00 grade point average; full-time enrollment (12 semester hours or more) in the agriculture program; and U.S. citizen or permanent resident. The scholarship program was originally established by Mr. and Mrs. Jim Jenkins and family in honor of his father, J.L. Jenkins. Jim Jenkins served as an agriculture professor at SPC for 45 years, retiring in December 2012. During his tenure he coached the Livestock Judging Team for 25 years, leading the program to many state and national awards. In recognition of his exceptional service and career achievements, his former students established a scholarship program in his name in 2000. Mr. Jenkins died unexpectedly in December 2013
