Josh Abbott Band Scholarship

A student at South Plains College beginning in 1998, Josh Abbott has established a successful career in country music along with the other members of his band, several of whom also attended SPC including Preston Wait, Eddie Villanueva and David Fralin. Along with taking courses for academic transfer, Abbott took classes in guitar and rock. Wait and Villanueva studied Sound Technology, and Fralin received his Associate of Arts in Vocal Performance. The band generously donated their time and talent to serve as the Feature Entertainer at the College’s annual Scholarship Gala in 2018 and it was that evening that the JAB Cares Foundation announced the establishment of the scholarship endowment. The award benefits a student enrolled in the SPC Creative Arts program.
