Landon Velasquez Memorial Scholarship in Guitar Studies

The Landon Velasquez Memorial Scholarship is awarded to outstanding and talented guitar students in the Commercial Music Program. Minimum qualifications include: 2.50 grade point average; full-time enrollment (12 semester hours or more) in the program; and U.S. citizen or permanent resident. This scholarship honors the memory of Landon Velasquez of Lubbock, who was a sophomore at Friendship High School at the time of his death in 2004. Landon had a passion for music and the guitar, and the scholarship recognizes outstanding SPC students majoring in guitar studies. The scholarship was established by the R.C. Johnson Jr. Foundation and his mother Mrs. Jan Johnson of Lubbock.
