The Boomtown Days Museum Scholarship is a general college scholarship that is awarded to a freshman or sophomore student. First consideration is given to graduates of Sundown High School. Minimum qualifications include: 2.50 grade point average; graduation in upper 50% of high school class; full-time enrollment (12 semester hours or more); and U.S. citizen or permanent resident. The Boomtown Days Museum opened in Sundown, Texas, in July 1971 and chronicled the growth and development of the Slaughter Oil Field.
