Nathan Tubb Memorial Scholarship in Commercial Music

The Nathan Tubb Memorial Scholarship in Commercial Music is awarded to a freshman or sophomore student majoring in commercial music. Minimum qualifications include: 2.50 grade point average; full-time enrollment (12 semester hours or more) in the commercial music program; and U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Nathan Tubb touched many lives during his time at South Plains College. Dean Tubb, who served as the college’s first Registrar and retired from the college in 1981 as Academic Vice President, is credited with pioneering the commercial music program at SPC. The scholarship program was established by his son Dr. Terry Tubb of Midland and family and friends to enable talented young musicians to take that first step to fulfilling their dreams of becoming professional musicians. Dean Tubb died in 2020 at the age of 101.
