Wilburn and Helen Wheeler Scholarship in Fine Arts Music

The Wilburn and Helen Wheeler Scholarship is awarded to a freshman or sophomore music major. Minimum qualifications include: 2.50 grade point average; full-time enrollment (12 semester hours or more) in the fine arts music program; and U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Wilburn and Helen Wheeler had a long association with South Plains College. Mr. Wheeler was a member of the college?s founding faculty, teaching math and serving as the college?s first band director from 1958 to 1974. Mrs. Wheeler worked many years in the college library. The scholarship program was established by family, friends and former students.
