Eddie and Donna Cook Paxton Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship program was established by the families of Brett, Keith, Todd and Micah Paxton in memory of their parents Eddie and Donna Paxton who died in 2017. Mr. Paxton was a community leader and real estate developer who began his 48-year career in Levelland in real estate appraising and lending. He co-owned and operated Paxton-Harpole Lumber Company during which time he developed his first housing addition to the city. He worked for a time in the insurance industry before establishing Paxton Real Estate in 1976. In 1986, he developed the Ridgecrest housing addition in Levelland. He also served as president of the Levelland Independent School District Board of Trustees for many years. He retired from the real estate brokerage in 2000. Mrs. Paxton worked more than 20 years in the banking industry, where she advanced through the ranks of Continental National Bank in Fort Worth to become the highest ranking female bank officer in Fort Worth at the time. She remained at the bank until the couple married and she moved to Levelland. In order to be considered for the scholarship, students must be a business major with plans to work in banking, insurance or real estate. The scholarship may be awarded to a student who enrolled on either a full-time or part-time basis. The recipient must have and maintain a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average.
