G.F. "Buz" Poage Memorial Scholarship

The G.F. Poage Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a freshman or sophomore student majoring in agriculture. Minimum qualifications include: 2.50 grade point average; full-time enrollment (12 semester hours or more); and U.S. citizen or permanent resident. First consideration is given to students who graduate from high schools located in Hockley County. This scholarship honors the memory of G.F. “Buz” Poage, a respected and recognized agri-businessman in the cotton delinting industry in Texas. He established Levelland Delinting and All Tex Seed and was the owner and president of the two companies for 34 years until his death in 2009. Mr. Poage also served on the South Plains College Board of Regents. The scholarship fund was established by his son Cody Poage and wife J’Lyn of Levelland.
