Howard Maddera Memorial Scholarship

The Howard Maddera Memorial Scholarship is awarded to freshmen and sophomore students with first consideration given to employees and family members associated with the South Plains Community Action Association. Minimum qualifications include: 2.50 grade point average; full-time enrollment (12 semester hours or more); and U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Financial need is also a consideration in awarding the scholarship. Howard Maddera was a respected community leader and the founder of South Plains Community Action Association, a non-profit organization whose mission is to expand the concept of providing opportunities and initiatives for individual economic growth. The endowed scholarship program was established by the board of directors of SPCAA and the former American State Bank with additional contributions from family and friends.
