Don Stroud Memorial Scholarship

The Don Stroud Memorial Scholarship is awarded to an outstanding freshman or sophomore art major. Minimum qualifications include: 2.50 grade point average; outstanding artistic talent as demonstrated by a portfolio of artwork; full-time enrollment (12 semester hours or more); and U.S. citizen or permanent resident. A founding faculty member of the art department, Don Stroud served 30 years as an art professor and chair of the Fine Arts Department and later as a member of the SPC Board of Regents. The mosaic “Wild Horses” in the foyer of the Christine DeVitt Fine Arts Center is one example of his artistic contributions to SPC. He died in 1991. Friends and family established the scholarship program in his name.
