Dennis Patton Memorial Athletic Scholarship

The Dennis Patton Memorial Athletic Scholarship is awarded to an outstanding student who participates in the College’s Rodeo Program. Minimum qualifications include: 2.50 grade point average; full-time enrollment (12 semester hours or more); and U.S. citizen or permanent resident. This scholarship honors the memory of Dennis Patton who was a true SPC Texan. Mr. Patton played basketball for the Texans from 1964-66 and was co-captain of the first team to win a WJCAC championship. He later served as head coach of the Texans for six seasons from 1974-80. He was serving as a member of the SPC Board of Regents at the time of his death in 2007. The scholarship was made possible by his family and friends. His widow, Linda Patton, served 12 years on the South Plains College Board of Regents.
