Don Marble Memorial and Nancy Marble Honorary Scholarship

To honor the memory of her father and pay tribute to her mother, SPC alumna Donette Marble has established the Don Marble Memorial and Nancy Marble Honorary Scholarship. Mr. Marble farmed cotton near Floydada, Texas, and was an agricultural leader, serving as president of the Plains Cotton Growers Association, as well as the National Cotton Association. The scholarship is awarded to a student majoring in agriculture or agri-business. In order to be considered, students must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average and enroll full-time (minimum 12 semester hours) in an agricultural program at SPC. Donette Marble attended South Plains College and was a member of the Lady Texan Basketball team that won the College’s first WJCAC women’s conference championship. The team went on to win the college’s first NJCAA Region V Tournament Championship and Ms. Marble was picked tournament MVP. The Lady Texans advanced to the NJCAA Women’s Basketball Championships, placing fifth in the nation in 1977. Ms. Marble currently resides in Midland, Texas.
