Derl DeArmond Memorial Scholarship in Computer Information Systems

The Derl A. DeArmond Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a freshman or sophomore Computer Information Systems major. Qualifications include: full-time enrollment (12 or more semester hours) in the program; minimum 2.50 grade point average; U.S. citizen or permanent resident. The scholarship program was established by the DeArmond Family in memory of their son. Derl studied computer science in the early 1980s when the floppy disk was in the design stage. Because he died at age 19 and did not realize his college dream, the family has chosen to give young people an opportunity to realize their dream in the computer science field.
